Society registration, annual returns, bylaw amendments and firm recordings, paid to the Registrar of Firms and Societies. It is the simplest of the challan forms — one account head, one purpose list — and it hides two things that will stop you dead if you do not know them.
On mptreasury.gov.in: Cyber Treasury → Pay Challans (under For Unregistered User) → Firms And Societies. No portal login is required.
Note it is under Pay Challans, not Pay Taxes — that menu holds only Central Sales Tax.
Use this form for fees to the Registrar of Firms and Societies: registering a society under section 7, filing the annual return and audited statement under sections 27 and 28, amending bylaws under section 10, registering a firm under section 58, recording changes in a firm, taking copies or inspecting documents, and RTI fees.
There is no department to pick. The form arrives fixed to the Department of Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion and shows it in a greyed-out box.
It also has a single Head of Account — 1475-00-200-0000, "Regulation of other business undertakings". There is nothing to choose, and nothing to look up.
This is the one that stops people. Open the form and the Purpose dropdown contains nothing. Purpose is a required field, so it looks like the form cannot be completed at all.
The list is built the moment you choose the registrar office. Pick the office first and eleven purposes appear.
Office first, then purpose. There is no way to set the purpose before the office — the list it would come from does not exist yet.
Same trap as the Excise form. Open the page and the district dropdown is empty.
The portal loads the districts when you finish typing the Firm/Society Name and move on. Fill the top of the form first and the district list appears.
Once the district is set, the portal fills the Treasury box itself and greys it out.
The office list holds eight entries: Registrar Bhopal and an Assistant Registrar for each of the seven divisions — Bhopal, Gwalior, Rewa, Indore, Sagar, Ujjain and Jabalpur.
Those are divisions, not districts. Each covers several districts, so the office you file under is very often named after a different place than the district you pay into. Real challans show exactly this: a society in Chhindwara paying into Chhindwara but filed under the Jabalpur division, and societies in Tikamgarh filed under Sagar.
And the firm's own address district can differ from both — a society addressed in Shajapur paying into Ujjain is a normal filing.
So there are three separate things on this form and you set each one yourself: your address, the district you pay into (which picks the treasury), and the registrar division your society belongs to. Do not assume any of them follows from another.
Mobile number and email address are both mandatory, and so are the From and To dates. The dates are checked by Add Challan rather than by Confirm, so a blank one is refused with Please Enter From Date at the step you might not expect.
The Registration No. box at the top is not required — you can leave it blank and the portal accepts the challan. Most filers do fill it in with their society or firm registration number, and the portal takes it in whatever shape it is written; there is no fixed format.
Filling the fields records nothing. The line only counts once you press Click here to Add Challan and see it appear in the grid underneath.
On this form you can only ever add one line. The portal refuses a second line against the same Head of Account with Head of Account already added — and this form has only one head, so a second line is always a repeat. If you have two fees to pay, they go in as two separate challans.
Press Confirm, clear the captcha, choose your bank and payment mode, and submit. Check the totals before you pay — the receipt prints the office as Firms And Societies, <your office> along with the district you chose, and that is your last chance to catch a wrong one.
Consultants and accountants who file for several societies type the same things every time: the same registrar office, the same district, the same handful of purposes. Only the society, the period and the amount really change.
